Most space tourism companies have only just begun taking passengers to low Earth orbit. Galactic Resource Utilization (GRU) Space plans to skip this altogether by building a hotel on the moon. A multi-mission process is planned, starting with a test run that will include early construction experiments with locally sourced materials. The second mission will deploy an inflatable system in a lunar pit, chosen for its natural shielding, and conduct further construction tests. The third mission will see the hotel – an inflatable structure designed to house up to four guests for a multi-day stay – installed on the lunar surface, where guests can enjoy activities such as moonwalks, driving and golfing. Future missions will include full construction using ISRU systems and robotic equipment, with modular inflatable habitats enclosed within structures made from lunar material, increasing both the capacity and longevity of the hotel. Construction is expected to begin in 2029, with the hope of having the hotel operational in 2032. GRU Space is currently accepting applications for early reservations, which require a deposit of $250,000 – $1,000,000 to hold a spot.
