Klay Thompson slams ex-NBA players for disrespectful comments about Megan Thee Stallion

The Mavericks guard called out Patrick Beverley and Jason Williams after they used foul language while speculating about his struggles on the court.

Dallas Mavericks veteran Klay Thompson is withdrawing after two former NBA players referenced his relationship with Megan Thee Stallion while criticizing his recent shooting slump — using offensive language.

The tension surfaced after an episode of the “Hoopin’ N Hollerin’” podcast posted on Nov. 4, in which former athletes Patrick Beverley and Jason Williams discussed Thompson’s decreased production this season. The Mavericks recently moved the 35-year-old to a bench role, prompting commentary about what could be behind his performance dip.

While reviewing Thompson’s numbers, Williams — a 12-year NBA veteran known for his stints with the Kings, Grizzlies and Heat — focused on Thompson’s personal life. He used a vulgar term referring to the female anatomy while mentioning the All-Star’s romantic relationship with Megan Thee Stallion, even questioning whether it affected Thompson’s game. The comment quickly sparked a backlash as the clip circulated on social media.

Thompson himself entered the conversation when the segment appeared on Instagram and gained traction. Thompson himself took to social media to tag Beverley, while condemning the wording used to describe Megan.

In a sharp response in the comments, Thompson wrote, “Referring to my girlfriend as a (expletive) is so disgusting and upsetting. Especially from someone who played in the NBA.”

He continued: “How would y’all feel if I referred to your wives in such a way? @patbev21 Do better guys. Very disappointing.”

Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion went public with their relationship last July after months of speculation.

On the field, Thompson is in the midst of a challenging season statistically. That’s him averaging a career-low 8.5 points on 32% shooting overall, including 28.9% from beyond the arc. This is his second year in Dallas after signing a three-year, $50 million deal that ended his long tenure with the Golden State Warriors ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
