It is that time for runners – the Run happens this weekend. The Kl Standard Chartered Marathon 2025 (KLSCM) sees a long list of road closures on Saturday and Sunday – two days instead of one, because the distances of 10 km and 5 km are held on Saturday and leaves on Sunday for the half and full marathons.

The 2022 edition introduced a new route for the 42.195 km full marathon, and since then it has largely been the same. Not this year – the starting line is at Jalan Raja Laut and runners will finish their race in the iconic stadium Merdeka, sitting on the foot of Merdeka 118. This should only be sufficient to excite regular participants.

From the stadium, runners will make a tour of the KL City Center (Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Bukit Bintang, KLCC) before he ends Jalan Ampang to enter the Akleh. They then ran back to the city center and make a U-turn at the end, crossing the Soloma bridge twice.

After the extensive city tour it is all the way to Ampang and joins the MRR2 briefly before running almost the full length of the Duke Highway. FM runners will then leave the Duke at Jalan Kuching for a straight line towards the Merdeka stage for their medals and on the way the Good Ol ‘DataAan pass.

The 21,097 km half marathon route is almost comparable to the FM route, but without the Akleh U-Turn and Duke Highway Stretch. Just like the entire marathon, HM runners will end in the Merdeka stage.

The flag dishes are on Saturday 6 a.m. for the 10 km and 7.45 -hour race for the 5 km race. On Sunday, FM runners start at 3.30 pm and HM runners at 4.45 am, which is earlier than before.

The free train rides are from 3.30 a.m. on Saturdays and from 1.30 am on Sundays. The train frequency is every 15 minutes before the LRT and every 20 minutes before the MRT.

Finally, the Race Pack Collection Expo AKA Active Lifestyle Expo takes place in Hall 6 of the KL Convention Center. Today’s opening hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., while it is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Good luck runners and may you achieve your goals!

If you don’t walk, it’s best to leave Brunch and Shopping in KL for another weekend – see the full list of closed roads above.
