Dennis Schröder tried to get physical with Luka Dončić after the game, but the NBA suspended him instead.
The NBA handed the Kings guard a three-game suspension on Saturday after he attempted to punch a Lakers player following Sacramento’s 125-101 loss to the Lakers on Dec. 28. with multiple reports indicating that Dončić was who Schröder was looking for.
ESPN reported that Schröder addressed Dončić after the match, telling him that he cannot call him “bra” on the field and should not behave as if nothing happened off the field.
“The incident occurred approximately 40 minutes after the Kings’ 125-101 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers,” the league said in its statement. “Schröder found the player in an arena hallway and started the confrontation.”
While the NBA did not confirm exactly who Schröder was targeting, he and Dončić were caught verbally alternating several times during the game.
At one point during the match, Dončić is seen challenging Schröder for allegedly fumbling an overtime while the German guard was a member of the Lakers during the 2020-2021 season.
‘Should have signed that contract, honey,’ Dončić can be seen saying to Schröder in a video at the court.
During Schröder’s stay in Los Angeles, it was rumored that the team offered him a four-year, $84 million extension, which he reportedly turned down in favor of testing free agency.
After a disappointing playoffs for the Lakers, Schröder signed a one-year contract worth just $5.9 million with the Celtics.

Schröder, however has denied these claimssaying that Los Angeles never offered him a contract.
Schröder is about to serve the suspension for Sunday’s game between the Kings and Rockets, and it is still unclear whether Schröder will appeal the league’s decision.
The 32-year-old is currently in his 13th season – and on his 10th NBA team – and is putting up 13 points and 5.7 assists in 31 games while serving as the Kings’ backup point guard.
Sacramento will face the Lakers again on Monday, but Schröder is still suspended at that time.
