Kingman’s (Always B Miki) Victory in the $250,000 Group One Victoria Cup at Melton on Saturday evening highlighted a great breed that has reemerged at the highest level.
Kingman was bred in New Zealand by Australian Mick Harvey, the horse’s owner, and is out of the Dali mare Gotta Go Dali Queen, the winner of eight races. She was bred by Sue Martin and is out of the Christian Cullen mare Gotta Go Harmony. Gotta Go Harmony won four races for Martin, who bred only two foals from her, including Gotta Go Dali Queen.
Martin also trained Got A Go Harmony’s full brother Got A Go Cullect, who won five of his nine starts.
Gotta Go Harmony is now owned by Todd and Fleur Anderson.
The Andersons have bred another five foals from Gotta Go Harmony, including Major Envy (Art major) who won once for Southland trainer Nathan Williamson before winning a further seven races in Australia for owner Mick Boots.

Since Kingman, Gotta Go Dali Queen has bequeathed a filly by Captain Crunch, a full sister of Kingman, a colt by King Of Swing and she recently produced a filly by Captaintreacherous.
Harvey also breeds from another daughter of Gotta Go Harmony, My Blue Harmony.
My Blue Harmony, bred by the Andersons, was placed in six of her eight starts for Tony Herlihy before being exported to Australia, where she won seven races for Harvey before being sent to stud.
This family has a lot of depth.
Got A Go Harmony and Got A Go Cullect are out of the brilliant filly Elect To Live, who won seven of her ten starts as a two-year-old and twelve of twenty-two starts out of three.
Elect To Live’s wins in New Zealand include the Caduceus Club Fillies Classic, the New Zealand Sires’ Stakes Two Year Old Fillies Championship, the Great Northern Oaks and the New Zealand Oaks – all Group 1 hallmarks.
She also won five races in Australia as a three-year-old, including the NSW Oaks and the Australian Pacing Derby.
Harvey also breeds from another daughter of Elect To Live, Gotta Go Electowatch (He looks). She has already left behind two winners, Refusal and Rewatch. Rewatch came second in the Group One Gold Crown Final at Bathurst in March.
There is interest in whether Kingman will return to his roots and race in the IRT New Zealand Cup next month.
