Khamzat Chimaev wants three-division glory in the UFC and says he doesn’t care about jeopardizing his undefeated record in the process.
The undefeated Chechen-born Emirati became UFC middleweight champion at UFC 319 last year by defeating Dricus du Plessis and securing more than 21 minutes of control time en route to a unanimous decision win.
Due to a minor foot injury, ‘Borz’ is currently sidelined and will undergo surgery.
Chimaev has yet to defend his middleweight title for the first time. However, the 31-year-old already has big plans. Fans are already aware of his desire to move up to light heavyweight to challenge champion Alex Pereira. However, while “Borz” discussed his long-term goals in the UFC, he recently opined that he is also open to a move to heavyweight once he potentially captures the 205-pound title. On the Jaxxon podcasthe said:
“[Alex Pereira] never responded. We’ll see if anyone else is there [is ready to fight]. I just want to be a double champion. Then I can go back to my weight class, or stay there, or move up even more. I’m not the guy trying to come out of the UFC undefeated. I don’t care. I just want to get some things done.”
