Khamzat Chimaev supplied one of the most dominant displays in the UFC title combat history, in which Dricus du Plessis conveniently defeated in the UFC 319 Headliner on Saturday evening.
Chimaev immediately imposed his will on the mat, Du Plessis almost immediately brought down and drove a majority of the opening round in side control. Borz ‘managed to get’ DDP ‘in a crucifix, although he was unable to take advantage of the dominant position outside landing a handful of potshots.
Rounds two, three, four and five reflected the first, in which Chimaev landed early Takedowns and held Du Plessis in an absolutely dominant display of the undefeated Chechen Monster.
Du Plessis found a few short positive moments in the fifth round, mounting Chimaev late and looked looking for a cinch in an internship entry. Unfortunately ‘DDP’ could not collect the energy to lock something for the bell and send us to the score cards for a very predictable decision.
