UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov has compared beating Conor McGregor to a holiday in the Maldives.

All the way back at UFC 229 in late 2018, Khabib Nurmagomedov fought Conor McGregor in the biggest fight in mixed martial arts history. While many fans and pundits were divided on how the fight would go, ultimately it was Nurmagomedov who managed to secure a fairly dominant win, wrapping things up with a nasty submission before starting a brawl in the crowd with McGregor’s team.

Although Khabib has said that he hopes Conor can turn his life around in the current times, that certainly doesn’t erase the bad blood that has existed between them for so long. These two men have been going back and forth with each other for years, both before and after their iconic fight in Las Vegas. While things don’t look particularly hostile at the moment, you never know where the next shot is going to come from, although there’s a good chance it will be from the Irishman.

In a recent interview, Khabib spoke candidly about the fight against McGregor, and what it felt like to raise his hand on that famous night.

Khabib discusses McGregor’s victory

“One thing that’s really beautiful in this world is that if you don’t like someone, you go into the cage, you beat the shit out of them and they give you money,” Nurmagomedov said of McGregor at a media event in Chicago (h/t S Khalil). “If you do this outside the cage, you will go to jail. I waited so long for this moment. I could not only fight, but also talk to him. I used that moment to enjoy, like you go to the Maldives. It was my vacation.”
