Roy Keane says the ‘swagger’ with which Man Utd’s strikers played against Liverpool reminded him of legendary striker Eric Cantona.
Bruno Fernandes beat Harry Maguire for a late winner with a stunning cross on the volley to give them their first win at Anfield since 2016.
Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring more than a minute after the match’s kick-off, which was canceled out by Cody Gakpo in the 78th minute.
Although Liverpool created many chances throughout the match, it was perhaps United’s most successful performance in the Ruben Amorim era. Victory over Sunderland before the October international break saw them achieve back-to-back Premier League wins under the manager’s watch for the first time.

“The win will give the players belief in winning football games,” Keane told Sky Sports after the final whistle. “The key for this group of players now is to keep winning. They have to take this into the game against Brighton.”
“It seems like they have goals on this team. That was a big problem last year. Some of the attacking players looked like they had some swagger about them. I liked that.”
“Like all these players like Cantona used to do. ‘Give me the ball, I can handle it’. And they handled it.”
Amorim has come under intense scrutiny due to the team’s performances and his reluctance to change his system, but Keane believes the Portuguese tactician has bought himself plenty of time on the hot seat.
“There has been criticism,” the Irishman added. “We talked about it [Sir Jim Ratcliffe] saying the manager will be here for the next two or three years. The results will dictate that, but if he can achieve such performances and results, he will get three years.”
