Kayla Harrison throws shade at former champion
Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey was back in the news this week with her rumored boxing match with Katie Taylor drawing a lot of attention. Additionally, Kayla Harrison’s manager Ali Abdelaziz has claimed that the champion and Rousey are benefiting greatly from their judo days. There wasn’t much evidence to support this claim, but when asked about Rousey, Harrison made her feelings very clear.
A reporter asked Harrison a question and said:
“The last time Amanda (Nunes) fought an Olympic judo medalist it was an almost as perfect performance -“
Kayla Harrison interrupted and reminded him that Rousey is a bronze medalist. As we know, Harrison is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and does what Rousey couldn’t. He further asked if that’s a storyline that fits into this fight, and Harrison responded with:
“Hey listen, the only thing Ronda and I have in common is that we are both blonde and we both did judo at some point. That’s where it starts and stops. I’m a completely different fighter, I’m a completely different person and on January 24th I’m going out there to show that.””
We can assume that Kayla Harrison is implying that she plans to do what Rousey couldn’t do in 2016: beat Amanda Nunes.

UFC 324 marks the first numbered event of the new Paramount Plus era for the UFC. The first event of 2026 will take place on January 24 from the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
