UFC bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison isn’t too concerned about not being eligible to main event the promotion’s big UFC 324 card in January.
Next month, Kayla Harrison finally gets her wish when she defends her belt against the returning Amanda Nunes, also known as the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time. Kayla has been wanting to get this fight officially booked for a long time and now it will finally happen as Nunes tries to prove once and for all that she is the best to ever do it, even after her retirement.
On the same card, Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett will battle each other for the UFC interim lightweight championship – and that will be the main event of the evening. Many fans and experts believe that Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes is more deserving of this position, but the UFC clearly disagreed with that assessment.
Kayla Harrison, meanwhile, isn’t too concerned about that, instead focusing on making history against Nunes.
Kayla Harrison’s thoughts on the co-main event spot at UFC 324
It’s not about me, and it’s not about Amanda,” Harrison said Monday on “The Ariel Helwani Show.” I think it’s about the belt. That should mean something.”
“I agree that these things matter,” Harrison said. “Do I care? Not in the way it matters to you.”
“For me, I’ve been patiently waiting for a date to confirm that this fight is going to happen,” Harrison said. “The order of the matches is not relevant to me. I’m just being honest. I joke all the time where I am, I would fight during the preliminaries just because it works better for the time I go to bed.”

Harrison is focused on what lies ahead, and what lies ahead is by far the toughest test of her mixed martial arts career to date. If she can get through Nunes even after the layoff the GOAT has had, it would really put her in the Mount Rushmore conversation.
