Katja Warwick has ended a beautiful 32-year career as a harness racing trainer on a high note with the victory of her Big Pacer Travelban (Fly like an eagle) In the $ 27,000 Happy 40th Birthday Matty Joss Pace about 2130m in Gloucester Park on Friday evening.
“Time has come and I loved my time where I had so many great experiences,” she said.
“I have my galloping license and I am currently training Shaula, and I intend to concentrate on preparing galloppers. I will keep that side alive.
“I received my permit to train Pacers here when I was 21, and then I went to the United States where I trained some very smart horses there for more than five years and won many races when I was in the state of Delaware, in the state of New York and then in Kentucky.”
Among her best artists, Mr. Aviator, precious legs, really cool and mystical gold, with Mr. Aviator earned the title of the two -year -old and three -year -old of the year.
Her 225 winners in Western Australia are three group 1 winners, Straittothelton (Westbred Classic for two-year-old mares in June 2014), Red Hot Roxy (sales classics for two-year-old mares in April 2016) and Askmeilltellya (Diamond Classic for two-year-old mares in May 2019).
She also trained Group 2 winners Magchnificent (2022 Nights of Thunder) and Sebastian James (Pearl Class in August 2024) and Tommy Be Good, who won two Group Three Feature events, the Randall Memorial Cup 2017 in Pinjarra and the 2018 Parliament Cup in Gloucester).
Travelban, a large stallion that stands 16.3 hands, and has the stable name of Ghandi (with his mother as a world peace) achieved his first victory of the Metro class when he started with the number 1 barrier in Friday night’s race.
Shannon Suvaljko made every post a winner with Travelban, the $ 5.10 second fancy behind $ 4 favorite goodtime Louis.
