Seventeen-year-old amateur Pritish Singh Karayat topped Pre-Qualifying II of the PGTI Qualifying School 2026 at Kensville Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad by a wide margin.
On Wednesday, the teenager from Delhi Golf Club shot a 3-under par 69 to finish top at 10-under 134, six above the field, the PGTI said.
Karayat (65-69) led the top 38 from a field of 135 into next week’s Final Stage, also to be played on the Kensville course, after the cut dropped to 5-over 149.
Karayat led by five shots overnight and came up with four birdies and a bogey during his second round of 69, underscoring his authority over the field.
A member of the Indian team at junior and amateur levels and a winner on the amateur circuit, Karayat made a number of conversions from 10 to 10 feet on Wednesday.
“I hit some good tee shots today and made a lot of lines,” the 17-year-old said.
Close misses
“The only disappointment was missing a few conversions on the greens because I had five lip outs.
“However, the good start on the first lap got me into a good rhythm and I was quite relaxed on the course today.
“Winning by a big margin gives me a lot of confidence going into the final stages.”
Amateur Mahir Rakha (73-67) finished second at 4-under 140, while seasoned professional Gurki Shergill (70-71) was still a shot behind in third.
Calcutta’s Nazir Ali, who missed the cut for the Final Stage, made a hole-in-one at 11 in his second round of 73.
On Tuesday itself, Karayat had posted an impressive five-shot sweep of the field in his opening round with eight birdies and a bogey.
Shergill, Divyansh Dubey and amateurs Ayaan Gupta and Arindam Sudan were all tied for second at 2-under 70.
