Former India National Cricket Team player and the father of the legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, Yograj Singh, has leveled shocking ‘match-fixing’ allegations against Kapil DEV.
Yograj Singh asked why the match-fixing case, involving the World Cup captain Kapil DEV from 1983, was closed and not questioned.
What was the match-fixing scandal in which Kapil Dev was involved?
In June 1997, the former Indian cricket player Manoj Pabhakar publicly claimed that Kapil Dev, among other things, had offered him money to find out in competitions during the Singer Cup 1994 in Colombo.

After the shocking accusations, the BCCI was forced to form a committee under the leadership of former supreme judge YV Chandrachud to investigate the case.
The Commission investigated the allegations of Pabhakar and published the findings in April 2000. Prabhakar was closed before waiting 3 to 6 years after the alleged incidents to make the case public. He also failed to mention the alleged bribery and did not provide any supporting evidence, and his allegations were actually found inconsistent.
In 2000, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and BCCIs carried out anti-corruption officer, K. Madhavan, further questions and submitted the report on November 1, 2000, which found no credible evidence that Kapil DEV covenant with a match-fixing or bridle. The legendary all -rounder got a clean chit in the case and the case was closed.

In an interview with InsideSport, Yograj said how Kapil, Mohammad Azharuddin and others were involved in the match-fixing scandal and demanded that the file was reopened. He said:
“Ask all journalists, where is the file of match -fixing that is in the Supreme Court, closed by the … do you know something about it? I know something about it? I tell you, ask this question. Do you know who was imprisoned in Match fixing? First kapil devs came the name of Kapil Dev, then the name of Azharuddin came.

Yograj Singh further said that the file will not be reopened because the heads of many legends would roll. The former Indian player also remembered how one of his friends, who was a journalist, was once threatened. He went out:
“No. Why? There are many heads of the legends. I told you what the truth is and what a lie is. Why don’t you do it? I have said it often. We have Mr. Luthra. He is a journalist.
“I said, are you afraid of these things? You are afraid they will say something to your family, they will burn your office. They have even made it a goon. That’s why people are afraid.”
