Kansas City, Mo.-with the National Women’s Soccer League Commissioner and the Shield of the League on site, created the current City City again history and defeated Seattle Reign FC 2-0 to conquer their first major trophy on Saturday in CPKC Stadium.

“It is unreal,” defender Ellie Wheeler said reporters after the game. “I think it is just so special and so deserves how much work we have put in and how we look at every game and the focus that we have … We are sure, you know, acknowledge what we have done and the history we have made, and celebrate that and then clearly go back to work, but enjoy it while we can.”

While the 10 minutes from the stopping time tapped away, the Humongous Teal Tiffany & Co. Box is his way to the field. The CPKC Stadium-mixed roaring, the platform appeared and the current set up in their freshly printed shirt winner Shirts Die immediately sold out in the team shop within 20 minutes after the end of the ceremony.

Kansas City now has an inviolable 53 points and a 17-2-2 record with five more games that are in the regular season. Wining the Shield also guarantees bids for the NWSL Challenge Cup 2026 and 2026-27 Concacaf W Champions Cup.

“We work for things like this, moments like these all season,” said head coach Vlatko Andonovski after the game. “It is a justification of the work that we did this year and last year.”

At the beginning of May the reign was the first team to win the current one with Lumen Field with 1-0. It was the second consecutive loss of Kansas City and the current one at that time dropped to 5-2-0. They then walked out their next four opponents 10-3 and start an eight-game extraction streak. The undefeated streak of the club is now at 14 games.

The current had a few early chances, including an ally Sentnor recording in the second minute, a wide right through Nichelle Prince in the seventh, and another by Robinson in the 10th. Temwa Chawinga, who returned her from a knee injury, still had a good appearance in the 13th that went wide.

Deinha broke the drought and buried a penalty in the 34th minute. The penalty, a handball in the box, was rated after confirming VAR. The current wore that lead at rest with a 13-0 advantage in Schoten and 66% of the possession.

The second half started much slower with a litany of breaks for players on the field and the current exhausted their replacements in the 73rd minute. Kansas City also seemed to be losing veteran defender Hailie Mace to an ankle injury, forcing her to go in the 62nd despite entering the match at the start of the second half.

Chawinga scored the go-ahead goal in the 74th and collected a carom after the Bia shot was blocked. She led it past goalkeeper Claudia Dickey and the CPKC Stadium -Mixte burst into a spicy representation of ‘Happy Birthday’.

It is the first shield of the decorated NWSL coaching career of Andonovski, which includes a few championship titles in 2014 and 2015 with FC Kansas City. The Seattle regulation won the shield in those two campaigns.
