Jusuf Nurkic Trade is astonishing, still makes no sense

The biggest head for the Utah Jazz this season is that they cleaned the house. It felt inevitable when this ended last season that Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson and John Collins would be in different teams, and here we are. Among the movements they made to clean the house, was the most confusing treatise of Sexton for Jusuf Nurkic.

With the most movements of the low season ready and gone, Fred Katz explained to “The Zach Lowe Show” why he didn’t understand the deal from the Utah perspective at all. Katz went more in detail and explained why it is not logical from the perspective of Charlotte, but asked a number of good questions about Nurkic’s fit in Utah.

For example, Nurkic is a backup of Walker Kessler and Kyle Filipowski good for him, or Utah, by the way?

The Nurkian trade was the indirect confirmation that Utah Collins would trade, and it was not long before they fulfilled that prophecy. Nevertheless, Nurkic, together with Kessler and Filipowski, will probably also be behind Lauri Markkanen and Taylor Hendricks in the front basement of jazz.

It was logical to trade Sexton, and despite Katz’s objections, he earned it to be in a team that will try to win next season, such as the Hornets. But in the case of jazz they have indicated that Nurkic will be on their opening night schedule, but it is difficult to find out when he will see exactly time.

The only rstional is that the skills of Sexton are simply not appreciated in today’s NBA, while big men like Nurkic are even though the first is the better player – offers the possibility to increase the commercial value of Nurkic around the deadline.

The only other plausible reasons is that the Jazz hopes to slowly return Hendricks back in the rotation. Nurkic is perhaps the bar that he can surpass before they have him back as a permanent fixture in their rotation. If that is the case, they really had to give up a pick on the second round to do that when just signing a veteran on the market for the minimum of the veteran would have achieved the same?

Utah was better off to give Collin Sexton de Jordan Clarkson treatment

While the jazz found a trading partner for Sexton, they did not have the same happiness with Clarkson, whom they bought and saved themselves some money. All in all, they spoke better with how they solved the Clarkson situation than with Sexton.

Although Sexton is currently the better player, the jazz received a worse player who is superfluous and costs more than $ 19 million, along with a second round pick. It is not as if that is the worst fate in the world, but as an alternative they could have buy Sexton, saved some money and did not have to sacrifice actively to do it.

That would have been much better than overpopulation of the vanguard. It would not surprise anyone if Nurkic was traded or bought halfway through the season, which will only raise more questions about why they traded him in the first place.

Writing may have been on the wall about Sexton for a while, but it should not have led so much confusion.
