Justin Ibarrola on Alberto Blas leaves BKFC as champions to sign with BKB

Justin Ibarrola recently took part in a clash for the vacant BKFC bantamweight title and spoke about the man who got that fight vacated in the first place. That fighter in question is Alberto Blas who left BKFC while still holding their 135-pound crown and signed with BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing where he has since scored a win at the then BKB Mighty Trigon.

Addressing the circumstances in which Alberto Blas left BKFC as reigning champions and then went to BKB, vacating the title, Ibarrola said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],

“Right, and I mean, Blas was like calling me online and we were exchanging words. But I don’t know, man. For me, it wasn’t even about fighting Blas. It was about, like I said, just taking the time to wait. Like it wasn’t me. I didn’t want to be the fighter chasing the belt.”

“I wanted to be the fighter where the belt chased me [laughs]. That’s exactly what happened, you know. It’s just perfect timing, man. You know, I consider myself lucky. I literally have no explanation for it. There was no similar hidden story behind it or a similar strategy for getting on the leash. There isn’t. It was just the right place, the right time, the right amount of patience, and it just fell into my lap, so.”

Justin Ibarrola claims the throne left vacant by Alberto Blas

At BKFC 85 on December 5, Justin Ibarrola claimed the belt that Alberto Blas gave up when he left the company. Ibarrola ascended the throne with a finish over the former BKFC title challenger Ryan Reber during the co-main event outing a few days ago.

Justin Ibarrola improved to a perfect 10-0 record in the gloveless fighting world, defeating his most experienced high-level opponent to date by third-round TKO. Now the BKFC bantamweight champion enters 2026 in top position and boxing fans will surely wait with curiosity to see who Justin Ibarrola’s first title defense will ultimately be.
