During a video address on his personal YouTube channel ahead of his interim 155-pound title fight against Paddy Pimblett at UFC 324 in January 2026, with a clip of the video footage on X account @RedCorner_MMASaidje said,
“It would be foolish to think that this is the start of my career. This is my last chance, and this chance to end my career the way I want to is all I can ask for. I’m fighting Paddy [Pimblett] for the interim championship, win that, and then I get to fight Ilia [Topuria]. Ilia is the worst guy in my division right now and some consider that across the board. So what an opportunity to finish this career the exact same way I’ve been fighting all along.
“It’s impossible to be perfect every time, and so the challenge right now for me is to be perfect for 25 minutes in seven weeks. I’ve been through a lot of experiences and I’ve learned a lot of things. I know how to do that and now I just have to trust my intuition and my body to put me in that position. Ultimately, the preparation will give me the confidence to fight the best I can.”
Justin Gaethje outlines “the best way I could ever imagine to end my career”
As the former BMF Champion outlines aspects of this goal of becoming a multi-time interim UFC Champion while keeping the flame alive for what is ultimately his goal of capturing the lineal belt next, Justin Gaethje continued:
“I plan to fight perfectly and if I fight perfectly I think you’ll have to be lucky to beat me. But the challenge is still ahead of us, I have to be perfect that night to knock out Paddy and earn my shot at the title on the White House card. That’s the plan and I think if I can do that, that’s the best way I can ever imagine to finish my career.”
