Jurgen Klopp confirms his official return ‘back to the sidelines’

There’s a moment unfolding outside Anfield with Jurgen Klopp that’s sure to turn heads, if not just because of the reveal video.

As shared by knock Taking to Instagram, Jurgen Klopp confirmed he will return to the sidelines as part of his new role as a pundit at MagentaTV during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 58-year-old’s video opened with the line that many Reds will focus on: “Grass under my feet. The heated atmosphere in the stadium and I want to be very close again.”

The former Liverpool boss was clearly teasing a return to the dugout, but all was not as it seemed.

He said: “Many of you have always known better. But I really couldn’t have thought of it myself. Back to the sidelines? I don’t miss anything. That’s what I always thought. But now it’s tingling again.”

The German then made it clear that he would not return as coach, adding: “Oh? No, not as a manager, I’m going to be a pundit for MagentaTV at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”

The exchange with host Johannes B. Kerner only increased the intrigue. Kerner asked: “What’s going on with next summer?”

Klopp replied: “I’m in! How cool is that! See you June 11 in Mexico!”

There is no managerial comeback planned, but that could happen before the World Cup starts.

The legends match between Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund at Anfield in March 2026 could tempt him back into our orbit in some capacity, thanks to his ambassadorial role with the LFC Foundation.

This new ‘tingle’ may factor into the thought of being back in the dugout at Anfield, including against one of his former clubs, for a charity match.

Why Klopp’s comments echo previous hints about a return as coach

This isn’t the first time a figure close to the former boss has suggested the door may not be completely closed either.

Roberto Firmino recently said: “I think he will coach a club again.” The Brazilian added: “Whether it’s Liverpool, only he can say.”

Hearing our old number 9 speak so openly fits neatly with this new clip and the German’s subtle shift in tone.

With Arne Slot currently leading us through a difficult period, the timing of the old manager’s re-emergence into the football conversation will not go unnoticed.

Klopp’s comments could feel like yet another proof that a complete absence from management may not be permanent.

And for us, anything that brings him closer to football will always attract attention.
