Jobe Bellingham first appeared for Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening and came out of the couch in a 0-0 draw against Fluminense at the FIFA Club World Cup.
The young midfielder only came to the German club earlier this month, shortly after he had helped Sunderland to win promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs of the championship. He was an important player for the Black Cats last season, but instead of staying in the top flight, he chose to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Jude Bellingham, by becoming a member of Dortmund.
Although he does not bear the name of Bellingham on his shirt, fans know exactly who he is – and comparisons with his brother have already started.
Strong first impression
Jowe came up in the second half and played just over 30 minutes, but still managed to impress. He had 34 touches, completed 26 of 28 passes, won a ground duel and made three approvals. Fans praised his calm about the ball and adulthood after his years.
