Miami-Juan Soto delivered a season of 30-30 and almost a season of 40-40-end with 43 home runs, 38 steals and a .921 Ops-in a Tour de Force first year with the Mets.

And yet the team he chose did not make the late season in the free agency.

The four also rans in the Soto Sweepstakes-De Yankees, Red Sox, Blue Jays and Dodgers-Zullen all play in October.

But Soto does not yet have a public regret about the $ 765 million deal that he has signed who brought him to Queens for 15 years.

At his introductory press conference, he did not quote the money, but the chances of the Mets for persistent excellence as the biggest separator.

After a historic collapse in which the best team in baseball ended until mid-June 38-55 during the last three and a half months, Soto said he still believes in the organization.

“One hundred percent,” Soto said after the season 4-0 Dud on Sunday to the Marlins in Loandewot Park, where he went 0-out-3 with a walk. “One season will not determine what we have here. We have everything we still have to go.”

An optimist can look at a strong year for the Mets Farm System, which has graduated the seductive starting pitching in Nolan McLean, Brandon Sproat and Jonah Tong, together with a strong offensive core that starts with Soto and Francisco Lindor and an immediate bouncation for eyes.

A realist can ask meaningful questions about the organization after a historical collapse that took place as Hemingway wrote: gradually, then suddenly.

It started with the injury to Kodai Senga and continued with injuries to Griffin Canning and Tylor Megill.

Frankie Montas came back ineffective from injuries and was then injured again.

Sean Manaea returned from an injury without looking much like his 2024 himself.

“They were injured,” Soto said about the starters, where he had indicated the problem. “They were incredible at the start of the year. They began to be injured, and then everything started to go.”

Sotos’s first season with the Mets was remarkable. It will also be remembered as a huge disappointment.

“Every time you don’t get the play -offs or win the championship, it is a failure,” Soto said. “That is how we will look at it, and so we will work through things in the low season.”
