Juan Martin del Potro returns to Delray Beach during the Legends competition

Former US Open and Delray Beach Open champion Juan Martín del Potro of Argentina will return to the DBO to play in the tournament’s Legends event during the FAN FEST opening weekend of February 13-15, the tournament announced today. He will play on the opening evening Friday, February 13 and Sunday, February 15. Tickets are available at DelrayBeachOpen.com.

Fans will be entertained by some of the best tennis players to ever play the sport. Grand Slam champion del Potro is joined by Bob And Mike Bryanthe best doubles team of all time who won sixteen Grand Slam titles and six DBO trophies between them. French Open champions Lucas And Murphy JensenDelray selects title lists Tommy Haas, Xavier Malisse And Jan Michael Gambillformer doubles finalist Ryan Harrison,along with favorite local professionals Jesse Levine And Scoville Jenkins wraps up an amazing Legends FAN FEST opening weekend from February 13-15. Qualifying matches for the ATP event are also part of the weekend ticket.

New this year is the FAN FEST Opening Weekend which is free for children 14 and under with a paying adult (Friday, February 13 – Sunday, February 15). Children’s tickets must be purchased in person at the box office on the day of the event. There are no restrictions on the number of children with an adult. Children can also register to participate in fun tennis games at the USTA Florida Children’s Day which will take place at the courts Saturday morning, February 14.

In 2009, del Potro, the 6-foot-2 “gentle giant” with a big serve and a ferocious forehand, defeated five-time defending champion Roger Federer to win the US Open as a 20-year-old after beating Rafael Nadal in the semifinals.

The Delray Beach Open was the first title in his 2011 comeback from injury. He returned to the tournament for four more years, the last in 2019, when he was ranked fourth in the world. He ranks sixth on the tournament’s all-time wins list with 14.

Del Potro won 22 titles during his career, reached third place in the world rankings and won Olympic silver at the 2016 Games in Rio. The main draw of the ATP tournament will take place from February 16 to 22, featuring two-time champion and world number 6 Taylor Fritzalong with hometown favorite #20 Tommy Paul and three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud from Norway, currently ranked number 12 in the world, who will make his tournament debut.
