Since yesterday, many parties have been contesting the appointment of Rider Gate, which falls under the umbrella of the Ramsol Group Berhad company, as a collection agency for the Road Transport Department (JPJ). This prompted JPJ to explain the issue, saying that the appointment of debt collectors has been in place since 2016.
“As of December 9, 2025, JPJ has appointed a total of 10 collection agencies. The statement describing the appointment of collection agencies as the privatization of JPJ’s services is the result of a misunderstanding about the function of JPJ collection agencies.
“Debt collectors do not play any role in collecting through the official channels, namely MyJPJ, MySikap and JPJ Office applications which are and will be managed by JPJ. On the other hand, the appointment of JPJ collection agencies allows JP services to be offered through additional channels,” JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said in a statement issued late this afternoon.
For example, he said, if a car insurance platform is appointed as JPJ’s collection agency, this will also allow the platform to offer motor vehicle license (LKM) renewal when customers purchase car insurance. However, users still have the option to renew LKM separately and directly with JPJ via MyJPJ, MySikap applications or at JPJ offices.
“For your information, the companies previously appointed as debt collection agencies include POS Malaysia Berhad, PUSPAKOM Sdn. Bhd., MyEG Services Sdn. Bhd., Konsortium Multimedia Swasta Sdn. Bhd., TCSENS Sdn. Bhd., as well as TNG Sdn. Bhd.
“The appointment of this collection agent also does not incur any costs for the government. Any company that is qualified and wants to provide added value through JPJ’s services can apply to JPJ. All applications will be processed according to the procedures in line with the approval by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), as it has been implemented for some time,” he explained.
He further said that JPJ remains committed to ensuring the delivery of efficient, safe and easily accessible services to the public through continued regulation of all designated collection agencies.
“JPJ will also continue to ensure that data integrity, transaction security and user experience levels are at optimal levels, in line with the government’s ambitions to strengthen public sector digital services,” he said.
