Morrissey, 30, led all defensemen in scoring with eight points and recorded three multi-point games as part of a four-game points streak.
“I was just trying to get a good, quick shot, and then I faded away, I think, like a Kobe shot,” Morrissey joked about his first goal of the season. “I didn’t see it. I just heard it. And then I heard the fans and it went in. So it was nice to get one.”
Morrissey and his partner Dylan DeMelo have started the season excellently. The duo has recorded 17 points so far, stepping up in key moments for an injury-riddled Jets lineup.
Morrissey was drafted 13th overall by Winnipeg in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and has long been a key part of the Jets’ blue line. He continues to prove why he is one of the most underrated defenders in the league.
