“Gamebred” and the Stockton native have competed against each other twice. Their first meeting took place in November 2019 when Masvidal defeated Diaz under the UFC banner. Diaz scored a decisive victory over Masvidal in their 2024 rematch, which took place under boxing rules.
Masvidal has insisted he was robbed in the boxing rematch with Diaz, and he wants a trilogy fight. He even suggested another martial art when he spoke MMAfighting.
“Don’t do that to him. You want him to get fucking slaughtered again,” Masvidal said. “I hit the brakes on that kid in California. I threw more shots, landed more shots. Threw more power shots, landed more power shots. I don’t know what category this guy won, except this crazy fight happened in California, with motherfucker [Gavin]Newsom there because everything there is corrupt. It’s fucking crazy. From the fire brigade to the fighting. They robbed me in that damn fight. But if Nate wants it again, let’s do some damn Muay Thai.
“We’ve already done MMA. That’s too easy. Let’s do Muay Thai. Let’s have some Muay Thai fun.”
Masvidal admitted he hopes to land a spot on the UFC White House card. If that doesn’t work out, “Gamebred” plans to return to competition regardless. Masvidal and Diaz have not fought since meeting in 2024.
“Gambred” claims that he is still working closely with UFC on some issues and that the company is allowing him to explore other opportunities. He said he will remain a part of the company and that’s why he’s hoping for a spot at the UFC White House event. Time will tell if Masvidal gets his wish.
