Jordan Ott’s fate is already crystal clear after movements outside the season

The Phoenix Suns may have made a number of massive schedule movements this season, but much less has been made of the important changes in their coaching staff. After two seasons behind veterans in Mike Budenholzer and Frank Vogel to try to achieve the late season, the franchise now leans in a long -term approach when hiring the first time head coach, Jordan Ott.

Ott arrives a very thought of assistant at the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he brought former player Demarre Carroll for the ride. Another familiar face in Mike Muscala will also be on the couch, after he has only completed his gaming career at the end of 2024. It is then clear that this is a coaching staff that is a lot younger and that will take time to implement their ideas.

Owner Mat Ishbia will still be ruthless despite lower expectations.

But for all the good vibes around having a long -term coaching staff in place – such as what Jamahl Mosley succeeded in achieving with the Orlando Magic in creating a defensive identity – OTT is immediately on the clock. That’s because Mat Ishbia is still the owner of this organization for all the conversation about taking their time to get this right. Patience is a characteristic that he does not seem to have.

The hope here is immediately that the Suns can improve 117.7 points per match last season. Only three teams did it worse, and the schedule now has Dillon Brooks and Kaman Maluach to help in that area, as well as the recurring Ryan Dunn, Oso ighodaro and Collin Gillespie. But that does not guarantee a success in that end of the court.

If the Suns do not make a clear improvement, OTT will feel the heat. Also not helping is the fact that their two best attacking players – Devin Booker and Jalen Green – play the same position and have a lot of overlap in their skills. If you exist the two side by side, it will be difficult – one will probably have to play the position of the Point Guard that is far from ideal – that will again increase the pressure.

Among all this is the feelings of Booker about the introduction of another rebuilding now that he is a 28-year-old in his first superstar. It was easier to tell him that he had to be patient when the time stood by his side and Chris Paul arrived to strengthen the drawing choices they had nailed. Looking around and seeing an 18-year-old in Maluach or a back-up point guard such as Collin Gillespie is a more difficult sale.

What the need is to look at the least as if they are still improving even bigger. Ott has taken on a huge task here, and it is one in which the fans will give him more time to get it right than the owner of the team. If the suns after the trade deadline, the bottom of the Western conference – as many expect them to be – will certainly be hot.
