Jon Rahm’s first round of this week BMW PGA Championship At Wentworth Golf Club, a frustrating start came because of a rules debate that the Spaniard lost.
Rahm strived for his tee-shot on the par-4 13th 305 meters away the right side of the Fairway. Prior to his second shot, Rahm put his club behind the ball and saw his ball move a little. Rahm called a control officer to discuss whether he was committed a violation because Rahm was not “100 percent sure”, his club ensured that the ball moved. Rahm and the civil servant have been discussing the problem for quite some time and even received the phone from a fan to see if they could see what caused the ball.
Rahm replaced his ball and then pointed to the civil servant that the club’s ball had left, which would suggest that it was not his club who made it moved, but rather pulled gravity in the opposite direction. Eventually the official told Rahm that he would be punished one battle since the ball moved after he had grounded his club.

While Rahm lost the rules debate, the fallen shot did not cost the two -time large champion.
Rahm hit his third shot to 33 feet and then poured a long parputt to get out of the hole undamaged. Rahm fired a 1-below 71 on Thursday and supported it on Friday and Saturday with back-to-back 69s. He is currently in 31st place at 7-under-par.
Rahm is one of the 11 members of the European Ryder Cup team to make it in Wentworth this week, while Captain Luke Donald is making his last preparations for Bethpage Black. All 11 members made De Snee and Tyrrell Hatton and Viktor HOVOLAND enter Sunday with a legitimate opportunity to hoist the trophy. Hatton starts the last round of Sunday at 13, two shots back from 54-hole co-leaders Alex Noren and Adrian Saddier. HOVOLAND is three shots back. Matt Fitzpatrick and Ludvig Åberg are five shots of the pace.
The European team will spend Monday and Tuesday in Bethpage Black as part of a final reconnaissance trip. They will then go their own way before they meet again to try to be the first team that wins an Away Ryder Cup since the European ‘Miracle at Medinah’ victory in 2012.
