Jon Jones: Reality Show Stint With Cormier Could Help Solve ‘Jacked Up Relationship’

Jon Jones seems to be approaching his reality show coaching gig against Daniel Cormier with an open mind.On Monday, ALF Reality – a Russian series somewhat similar to “The Ultimate Fighter” – announced that Jones and Cormier would serve as counter-coaches on the show. No air date was revealed.

While the longstanding animosity between Jones and Cormier has been well documented, “Bones” indicates he may be willing to bury the hatchet with his old rival during filming.

The beginning of a beautiful friendship?

“I think it would be great to have Daniel Cormier be a part of this show,” Jones said, via MMA Uncensored. “Obviously he and I have a rough history. I know he doesn’t like me that much because I’ve beaten him twice, but I think if he came to Thailand and filmed with me it would be a great opportunity for us to repair this heated relationship.”But I have no problem with him. I think his coming here would give us both the opportunity to maybe start a friendship.”

Jones defeated Cormier twice under the UFC banner, although the second win was changed to a no-contest after “Bones” failed a drug test. While a trilogy in MMA between the two is unlikely, as Cormier retired in 2020 and Jones is looking for a spot on the UFC White House card, “DC” has indicated he would be interested in wrestling his old foe. With Real American Freestyle Wrestling consistently booking a number of MMA notables at its events, Cormier’s wish could become a reality somewhere down the road.

“I’m telling you, Real American Freestyle is going to see me and Jon Jones at some point, and I’m going to kick his ass like you would never believe,” Cormier said on the radio. Podcast ‘Funky and The Champ’. “Because guess what, I’m still shooting. I’m still training wrestlers every day.”
