Augusta National Golf Club and the R&A today jointly announced that they grant aspects of the qualification criteria for the Masters Tournament and the Open, invitations to winners/top finishers of Select National OpenS immediately.

This approach builds on the long -term and successful open qualifying series of the R&A and will ensure strong international paths to both large championships of different professional tours, so that the global power of Elite Professional Golf is recognized.

“The Masters Tournament has long recognized the importance of having international representation among his guests,” said Fred Ridley, chairman of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament.

“We have, together with the R&A, a shared dedication to the worldwide game and are proud to work together. Today’s announcement reinforces the collective vision of our organizations on rewarding top talent around the world that rise to the top of historical National Open Championships.

The open qualifying series has been in operation since 2013 and offers players in the opening through prestigious touring events around the world. At the beginning of this year, players can be eligible for the 154th Open in Royal Birkdale via 15 events in 13 countries.

The schedule for the open qualifying series and the list of exemptions for the 154th Open will be announced in September.

The Masters 2026 will be the 90th game of the Masters Tournament and is planned for 6 – 12 April. The 154th Open is planned for 12 – 19 July in Royal Birkdale.
