Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani has been appointed as the new Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), replacing Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, whose appointment as senator ended on December 2.
His appointment was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier this afternoon as part of a Cabinet reshuffle that included several portfolio changes.
Before this latest appointment, Johari held the position of Minister of Plantation and Resources since 2023. The position is currently held by Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad.
The latest Madani cabinet also includes Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, who was appointed as Minister of Economy, having previously held the position of Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation. He fills the vacancy left by Rafizi Ramli, who resigned in May this year.
Meanwhile, Liew Chin Tong, who previously held the position of Deputy Minister of MITI, will now be appointed as the new Deputy Minister of Finance. While Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin has been appointed Deputy Minister of MITI.
