The Colorado Avalanche cannot stop Joel Kiviranta.
The team and veteran left wing agreed with a one -year contract for the third consecutive season, the team announced on Friday morning. The salary number was not announced.
Kiviranta comes from a productive year in Colorado, with the 29-year-old Vantanta, Finland, native who collect 23 points (16 goals, seven assists) over 79 games during the regular season. His postsean performance, however, was a Dud statistically without points over seven games against his former team, the Dallas stars.
However, the AVS could not resist bringing the depth scorer back after he had made three multi-goal versions in his best NHL campaign to date last season. That included a hat trick against Seattle on December 22. In his two seasons in Colorado he achieved 32 points in 135 games.
“Joel is a hard-working, responsible player who has shown that he can make an important contribution to five-on-five”, read a statement from Avalanche General Manager Chris Macfarland in the release announcing the signing of Kiviranta. “He has been a valuable member of our line -up and we are delighted to have him back for a different season.”
The 5-foot-11, 185 pound Vooruit will probably cross 300 career-NHL matches in the coming season in the coming season. He has 60 points in 298 games in the regular season for six NHL seasons. He appeared in the play -offs in five of those seasons, a total of 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) in 51 Postseason competitions.
Kiviranta originally signed with the stars as an unguised free agent in May 2019, and he spent the past two seasons with minimal deals with the AVS.
