Steveson was a gold medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He was also the 2021 Pan American Freestyle Wrestling Champion. On his Wikipedia page, Steveson has a freestyle wrestling record of 40-6.
In September 2025, the 25-year-old made his professional MMA debut at LFA 217, where he earned a first-round TKO against Braden Peterson. Just over two months later, he followed that win with a first-round knockout against Kevin Hein at Anthony Pettis FC 21.
Joe Rogan spoke of the knockout with great excitement: “He beat this guy with his left hand and then knocked him out when he was knocked out.
It’s so crazy, the speed this guy has. First of all, he’s already hitting really well, and he’s only been hitting for a year.”
Steveson wasn’t bothered by MMA veterans; instead he faced other newcomers. Peterson had a professional record of 1-0 going into their fight, while Hein was 2-1.
The heavyweight native of Portage, Indiana, fights under the illustrious Jackson Wink gym.

The heavyweight division could certainly be in dire straits if and when Steveson steps into the Octagon and puts himself in front of the best in the UFC. As Rogan says, “that kind of speed is crazy for a heavyweight.”
