Our story
The Chicago Cubs-Franchise The Chicago Cubs Franchise, a charter member of the National League of Major League Baseball since 1876, has won the National League-Wimpel 17 times and was the first team that Back-to-Back World Series Won Won in 2016. The team won its first World Series in 108 years and ended the longest championship dried in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, manual scoreboard and famous selection framework, the iconic Wigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916 and is the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. In 2009, the Ricketts family recorded the ownership of the Chicago Cubs and set three main goals for the organization: Win the World Series, Preserve and implicate Wrigley Field and to be a good neighbor.
How to contribute:
The Pro Acquisition Specialist plays a key role in supporting the player evaluation and acquisition processes of the organization. The specialist must be locally to or will be willing to move to Florida or Arizona and will focus on live reconnaissance reporting of players, producing high-quality written reports, making high-speed video and contributions to the concept of the organization of player value. The specialist will also be charged with ad hoc video reports. In the low season, the specialist will attend training courses in the allocated region and it is also expected to carry out or help ad-hoc research projects to improve the evaluation frameworks of players and decision-making processes.
This role requires strong reconnaissance instincts, skill with analytical methods and the possibility of synthesizing information on usable recommendations. The position is ideal for someone who is passionate about player evaluation who can balance traditional scouting with modern analytical approaches.
The daily day:
- Provide personal exploratory reports of players during the season and produces timely and detailed reports on player skills, performance and projection.
- Make a quick video of players on games and training sessions.
- Full video scouting reports as assigned.
- Woon offseas training in the assigned region.
- Construction and maintenance relationships with competition staff, coaches and other contacts in the assigned region.
- Perform a project work outside the season, including research and other initiatives to support players purchase.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of scoutingwork flows, evaluation methods and decision support processes.
What you take with you:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, detailed reconnaissance reports.
- Demonstrable understanding of fundamental scouting principles and current research of baseball analyzes.
- Possibility to integrate Scouting Insights with data -driven analysis to improve player evaluations.
- Skill in SQL, R and/or Python for data manipulation and research.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the possibility of balancing live coverage requirements and project work out of season.
- Passion for talent evaluation, baseball Operations/analysis, And learn.
What distinguishes you:
- Previous experience with personal player evaluation.
- Experience with statistical analysis; Prior baseball research is a plus.
- Knowledge of the current trends in the baseball industry and Major League rules.
- Familiarity with professional and amateur baseball player Pool and independent landscape of the baseball facility.
- Insight into the current best practices for players’ development.
