Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant -Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday (September 27, 2025) said that while the government and the security forces do their work, ending terrorism is also the responsibility of the people of the Union area.

During an event in Srinagar, Mr. Sinha said that terrorism has been greatly reduced throughout the country and is now limited to very few areas.

“Terrorism is reduced in other parts of the country. North-East is now largely terror-free. Left-wing extremism or naxalism is now limited to a few districts and I am sure it will be wiped out of the country in the coming months,” he said.

The LG said that few areas in Karnataka, Kerala and especially J&K, have long been affected by terrorism, and it is necessary that fear must be wiped out.

“It is the biggest obstacle for development and creating employment opportunities. Safety forces and the administration do their work, but the people of Jammu and Kashmir also have a responsibility. They should not enjoy everything that can lead to intentional or unintentionally. That causes many problems,” he added.

Sinha claimed that the situation has improved a lot in J&K, said that street violence and stone pelting have now become something in the past.

“Schools, colleges and companies function like the other parts of the country. There is now no top commander of a large terror outfit.

Referring to Pakistan’s support to terror activities, Mr Sinha said, although there are several parameters that have been achieved: “Unfortunately we have a neighbor who is always the hand”.

“Instead of concentrating on building the country after the distribution, Pakistan attacked the country, it attacked JK immediately after the partition wall. They fought four direct wars and lost. They understand that they cannot win a direct war with India. So they surrender to the proxy war by radicalizing people,” he said.

Point by the human costs of the violence, Mr Sinha said that more than 40,000 people have lost their lives to terrorism.

“How long will this continue? Although it is the duty of the government and the forces to stop this, it is also the responsibility of the people. So people have to come forward to stop this,” he added.

Without mentioning anyone, Mr. Sinha said that some people make statements that are comparable to the Terruluit equipment ‘The Resistance Front (TRF)’.

“When stories are made like this, this causes enormous damage. If the same is said in the social media post of the TRF that we say in our statements, then it is certainly dangerous,” he said.
