It was not long for JJ Gabriel to open the score for United and to add another to the seven goals he has already scored this campaign for the U18s.

With seven goals in six performances so far for the U18s this season, Gabriel is on average over a goal per game despite playing three age groups.

Edward Ibrovic-Fletcher found Gabriel before the 14-year-old chose his corner with a wonderful finish.

United doubled their lead in the 15th minute, Ibrovic-Fletcher played provider again, but this time the move was finished by Junior Brown.

The match saw the return of Dante Plunkett for his first performance of the season.

Plunkett had an injury since the backend of last season and got 25 minutes under his belt before he was immersed for Jacob Watson.

It was unclear whether the replacement was planned in advance or Plunkett grabbed another knock.

Ibrovic-Fletcher came close to scoring itself with a long distance effort that was tipped over the bar by Ben Chivers.

The captain Jay Mcevoy from United was forced just after the hour when he took an uncomfortable landing and hurt his shoulder.

His replacement saw Jacey Carrick make his debut at the level, with the number 16 shirt that his father Michael Carrick wore famous for United.

Stoke City pulled one back in the second half when Lewis Bailey hit the cross of Finley Nixon, but it was too late because United secured the three points.

United will compete against Burnley in their last group stage later this month.
