Jiri Lehecka lets his racket talk in New York in 2025 and enjoys his best career in the US Open.

He also lets this mouth do the floor.

In an interview after this third round victory over Raphael Collignon of Belgium, Lehecka was not briefly in words when answering questions to a couple of American and Czech reporters. He answered questions about his current form, getting used to the hard courts of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, as well as his opinions about Handshake arguments at the end of the competition in pro-tennis-all completely very careful and articulated with a lot of detail. The Czech press, waiting for the English part of the interview, was very patient.

“In recent years here in New York I didn’t really feel myself,” said Lehecka why he enjoys his best career US Open in 2025 versus previous years. “I did not really feel that the surface is suitable for me. Hard court is good, but at the same time I did not really feel that the bounces, how rough the surface, my game does not fit so much. So this year we were in the preparation week to work a few things, to work a little more, to work a little more.

“I think it is definitely one of the most difficult matchups for both parties, because the US in the home floor, I would say, together with Italy, the most difficult opponents you can have,” said Lehecka. “But at the same time I have to say that we also think we have a fairly strong team. They are the favorites and we have proven many times in the Davis Cup that we can beat better players who are useful, and that we really have the level. Now I am the feeling that I and the most important thing is that it is to start with the fact that they started in the court.
