Although he appeared in just four games before the Philadelphia Phillies, Jhoan Duran has already had an impact.
Duran hit the door again on Sunday afternoon and noted his fourth rescue in as many games as he did the Phillies’ 4-2 victory About the Rangers. He has only allowed one hit more than four scoreless innings, three stroke three, because he has retired 12 of the 13 batters where he has been dealing with since he was taken over during the Trade Deadline.
The ninth inning had again been a rotating door for the Phillies this season. Denser Jose Alvarado had performed well and placed an ERA of 2.70 and a 1,200 Whip on his 20 innings, but was suspended for 80 games for violating the policy of substance abuse of the competition. Jordan Romano has been inconsistent at his best, moved in and out of the narrow role because he posted a 6.64 ERA and a 1,347 Whip about 39.1 innings that came in on Monday and threw 41 batters with 15 walks. Although Relievers have thrown Orion Church and Matt Strahm well, the Phillies are reluctant to give the further role.
The Phillies paid beautifully to bring Duran on board. Pitcher Mick Abel and Catcher Eduardo Tait are both top 100 prospects and the building blocks in Minnesota can be for years. Moving Duran can pay long -term dividends for the twins.
In the meantime, the Phillies have a different goal in mind – winning the Third World Series in franchise history. A constant rotating door in the ninth inning kept that goal out of reach. Although it is only a sample of four games, Duran has been everything where the Phillies can have been hoped for.
