Jesus celebrates dream night for Arsenal in Champions League

Gabriel Jesus enjoyed a “dream evening” in the UEFA Champions League as Arsenal beat Inter Milan 3-1.

The Brazilian forward bagged a first-half brace either side of Petar Sucic’s equalizer to help maintain the Gunners’ unbeaten record in the competition. Viktor Gyokeres added a third late on.

After enduring an injury nightmare in recent years, the 28-year-old scored his first goals in Europe since late 2023, all the sweeter because he scored them at the iconic San Siro ground.

Jesus celebrates ‘dream night’ for Arsenal in Champions League

“It’s a dream night,” Jesus told Amazon Prime Video. “I’ve always dreamed of being a footballer. I watched as a child. I watched a lot of Serie A, so to be here in this stadium and score here brings tears to my eyes because I’ve always dreamed of being here.”

“There’s always a reason why things happen, whether they’re good or difficult, and I learned that during the 11 months I was off the field.

“It’s always difficult to play against Inter Milan. Last season we came here and lost. Tonight we played better than them, we controlled them, but they are a top team and they attack. We scored at the end and got the three points. We have to keep going because next weekend we have another one.”

“Everyone wants to start. I’m a very respectful guy. I’m not a kid anymore, I’m 28, so I understand football. I’m very happy that Vik came on and scored a goal. I’m so happy that I scored and Vik scored. I’m confident that Kai will score if he gets the chance.”
