Jenson’s declaration of intent
Helder in the competition, Van Emburgh obtained his defeat in the future competition in the last days earlier by setting up an insured show in the MS3 category.
The medal winner of Tokyo 2020 was forced to settle for silver just a few days earlier, competing in a double header within the American capital. In that future competition he became first place by French Florian Merrien, but apparently he used the frustration to make himself a place this time.
The American athlete took the future loss of the Frenchman with a 3-1 victory in the semi-final, and he saw Jang Yeonjin of the Republic of Korea in the final with a 3-0 result. “I am happy and it is an honor to do it on a home floor,” Van Emburgh told USA Table Tennis. “My mental is completely different (against Yeongjin) and I just try to play my best.”
For the hosts, however, it was not only from Emburgh between the medals. Ian Seidenfeld won bronze in the MS6, while Mingyu Zu won the same color in the WS8.
The Will Bayley Show
Will Bayley. A name that is synonymous with our sport in his home country of Great Britain and he just keeps thriving.
Not for the first time this year Bayley made sure he would leave an event with several gold medals – this time it was three. First individual success came into the MS7, 3-0 in the final against the Japanese Kosuke Hemmi. But it was on the final day in the Doubles where he went back-to-back.
MD14 Success came in a completely British final, Bayley and Theo Bishop beat Billy Shilton and Martin Perry. With Bly Twomey in XD14 he made it a double success when they defeated Brazilian Paulo Salmin and Lethicia Lacerda.
It all culminated with a trifecta of top spots, with MD14 success that came to an all-British final when Bayley and Theo Bishop Billy Shilton and Martin Perry defeated.
Large versions in the capital
The competition had ruled the Paralympic champions in its heart, but the result was very mixed when others got on the record. In the C4-5 category, C4
Champion in Paris, Kim Young-Gun, was only able to reach the quarterfinals, with Valentin Baus that struck perfectly during the competition for a final gold. He abandoned Jack Hunter-Spivey 3-0 in the final, a much simpler outing than their meeting earlier in competition when Baus recovered from 2-0 down for the victory.
The MS11 final was a copy of Paris 2024 – but the outcome wasn’t. Chen Po-Yen and Kim Gi Tae met when they resumed their fascinating rivalry from the head, but this time it was the man who represented Chinese Taipei who won the title, Po-Yen a 3-0 Victor in the final.

In the WS1-3, Jiyu Yoon (silver in WS3 in Paris) fought in the final along Giada Rossi (gold in C1-2 in Paris), while Laurens Devos of Belgium conquered the young other Cepas in MS9.
On the other side of things, Natsuki Wada came at the top of the C11 and ended up on top of an All-Japan stage after a final victory over Kanami Furukawa. And the young asterisk of Brazil, Sophia Kelmer, kept things on her rapid turnout to the top with a different title here. The 17-year-old achieved WS8 victory and posts on Instagram, wrote simply “to Infinity and Beyond”.
Lovas and Rios do it again
The best of Slovakia does it again! Peter Lovas and Jan Riaps continued to excel in a competitive field, emerging as MD4 winners against Yeongjin Jang and Sang Gu Jong Jong Jong for almost a year short of the Slovak Duos success story of Duos Paris.
Still to come in 2025
