Cutler was at one of his favorite stations and took the time to demonstrate his go-to exercise for those upper arms. “This machine is a double biceps insulation curl,” he explained. “So what I’m focused on is really just trying to squeeze and get contraction.”

The double biceps rag machine is more comfortable than standing or sitting on a sofa because the backrest offers spinal support. And instead of the elbows being subjected to possible side-to-side movements for maintaining stabilization, the machine has a predetermined path, making the elbows feel firmly determined while you lift and descend.

“But what is nice about this, if you notice it, I have solved my elbows, and everyone who follows me knows that I am now training a little looser now, not to say that that is good or bad, but I know that some people like to be a bit stricter,” he shared.

The double biceps -curl machine indeed offers more elbow stability than free weights, but does not have the support or fixed stiffness that is offered by the preacher curler. In many ways it is a matter of preference and Cutler prefers the middle ground that is offered by the biceps machine -curler.

“Get it really isolation when you come up,” Cutler explained as he picked it up for the masses and showed the bulging peaks of his own biceps. “Don’t forget, don’t get all the way up and remove the voltage, you just want to get a good steady power. Get that contraction: that is the top movement and pop out our 10 or 12 repetitions.”

When completing his set, Cutler takes the time to get the most out of time under voltage. To try it for yourself, you go heavy and strive for three sets for hypertrophy. “I first put this in my routine every time I do my arm training, just to really get the insulation, really to get that bloodstream,” Cutler explained. “Give this a chance if your gym has this piece or something like that.”
