Jamaican man wrongly deported from us to Eswatini finally in the home country

Orville Etoria was transported for months and held in the South African nation.

A Jamaican man who was deported and held in Eswatini was finally repatriated in his home country.

Orville Etoria, together with four other migrants, was in a maximum security prison in the South African nation before his repatriation. According to the Associated Press, he was refused access to legal adviser several times and remained in custody, even though no charges were filed Against him.

He was sent to Eswatini under an order of the Trump administration, as part of the third country declaration program of the US President. Despite the fact that he is not a resident of Eswatini and the willingness of Jamaica to receive him, Etoria was sent there. Amnesty International also noticed how the nation had claims of violations of rights, which increased the commitment to the legal justice of men.

With the help of the International Organization of the United Nations for Migration, Etoria was officially repatriated to Jamaica on 21 September. A spokesperson for Eswatini confirmed the news.

Initially the five men were brought to Eswatini, currently under absolute rule by his king, mid -July. The Ministry of Interior Security said that the migrants were dangerous and convicted of serious crimes, which caused their relocation. The DHS also claimed that they lived illegally in the US and had deportation orders against them.

The men’s lawyers doubted the legitimacy of the claims and said they had all completed their criminal penalties and were sent to Esdini without the correct process. The Trump deportation program currently exists in four countries, including South Sudan, Ghana and Rwanda.

The program has had to deal with criticism from legal and human rights proponents, in which opponents say that the program joined migrants by transporting them to countries that they are not connected or have no citizenship.

The DHS has said that it has the right to transport dangerous migrants to one of these countries or that they willingly leave the US.

Although Etoria has found a solution, others remain detained in Eswatini with little information about the circumstances of the prison.
