Should the Phoenix Suns worry that the best offensive player they got back in a trade for Kevin Durant is plagued by a hamstring problem at just 23 years old?
It has certainly put a negative spin on what has been a great season thus far, but that is unfortunately the reality of Jalen Green being on this roster now.
Groen must change his playing style to stay on the field in Phoenix
The former Houston Rocket managed just four minutes of playing time in the recent loss to the Atlanta Hawks before leaving the game after another flare-up of his hamstring problem.
Head coach Jordan Ott confirmed this was a cautionary move, but there was also no sign of Green in the subsequent loss to the Miami Heat.
We’re reaching a point now, at least for the rest of this season, where the Suns need Green to change the way he plays in order for him to stay on the field for this team.

We know he has crazy athleticism and can jump over anyone, but his style of play this season continues to lead to injury problems.
The four-game sample size is small for this season, but Green has shot a blistering 42.1 percent from deep on 4.8 attempts each night.
That’s a career high in success but the lowest effort we’ve ever seen from him, and it’s the key to extending this current season for the player before he figures out the rest later.
Asking Green to stay away from the paint and explode to the rim is difficult because we know he is capable of doing so. But let’s see him play some matches together, taking most of his shots from mid-range and beyond, please.
That’s counterproductive to what the Suns should be trying to do in the long run, while there’s no doubt he’ll also get in the way of Devin Booker changing his style.
But this needs to happen so that Green can put these concerning hamstring issues behind him, especially since he hasn’t missed a single game (regular season or playoffs) in the two seasons leading up to this game.
There is no reason to panic yet, Groen is still so young and these kinds of problems arise all the time among players. But if the Suns want to make the postseason, they need him there, and preserving his body as much as possible is the way to do that for the remainder of this campaign.
