Former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion and UFC title Challenger Jake Shields sat down with Hall of Famer and former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt “The Terror” Serra for an episode of him Nand podcast.
The pair of MMA veterans spoke about Jake’s journey through the sport, including his early fights, his relationship with Chuck Liddell and the Diaz brothers, as well as the notorious StrikeForce Fighting The scrap package is involved. As a member of the scrap package, Jake Shields is no stranger to a good old -fashioned street fight.
The retired hunter also made the headlines in 2022 after a fight on the UFC Performance Institute with former UFC hunter Mike Jackson, who is best known for his fight against famous Wwe Wrestler cm punk. Jackson was released from the promotion after compiling a 1-2 (1) record over a period of six years.

Matt Serra spoke about how there are often few consequences for someone’s actions in the current social media-driven world. “I like how you got Michael Jackson,” Serra told Jake Shields, referring to a controversial incident involving the pensioner hunter. In the conviction that Jackson had been disrespectful and loud online, the Hall of Famer Shields asked what had happened.
“He ran his mouth on Twitter,” Shields explained and added context to the fight. “I would never fight any person, but if you are in the UFC, around my weight and talk about trash can – we agree on Twitter to fight on sight.”
Shields continued: “He is a terrible hunter, but I am retired, I am older and we are the same weight class. He spoke about garbage and called me racist. He is a quarter black and calls me racist, which is ridiculous.” Shields continued: “He said things like” Fuck White People, Fuck Crackers. ” So he is just a piece of shit racist “
Jake Shields recalled that after a back and forth on Twitter he walked into the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas and happened to see Jackson touching the bags. Shields said that when he confronted Jackson, Jackson replied: “No, Bro, let’s do this in Houston,” of which Shields believed it was an attempt to prevent the fight.
“They grabbed me and stopped me,” said Shields, referring to his coaches. “But then this guy starts barking and talking a lot of waste. So Dewey (coach) lets me go.” Serra laughed at the story while Shields went on: “So I threw him on the floor. He felt like a little girl – I had sex with girls who are stronger than he.”
According to Shields, Jackson turned to Dewey Cooper- his friend and a respected former kickboker and trainer – and called him an “Uncle Tom” and a “Coon” for choosing with shields about “someone who is a quarter black”.
Shields said Jackson tried to sue him afterwards. “I had to deal with it for a few months,” he said, but noticed that the lawyer eventually dropped the case.
Jake Shields concluded by Mike Jackson “a shame” and claimed: “He can’t walk in a gym without being beaten up.”
