Almost 50 enthusiastic children recently went to the courts of East Malvern tennis club for one AO Holiday Program Presented by WEKEN-BIXTm.

The national program involves thousands of participants aged 5-15 between the age of fun, safe and interactive tennis experiences on and next to the field.

The Australian female tennis star Jaimee Fourlis made a special guest performance and not only brought away, but also a wealth of knowledge for young players.

“I’m pretty excited to be here,” she said. “It’s great to present some bucket hats and hopefully to inspire the next generation of tennis players.”

Fourlis started her tennis trip in the same way as the children who participated in the program, by competing in Grassroots programs at community clubs.

“I started playing at the same age as most of these children,” she remembered. “Hot Shots was my access point, and being part of Junior Clubs, I created a really good community where I could also train with children my age and older children.”

AO holiday programs offer more than just tennis exercises. Children start the day with a healthy know-bix breakfast before they participate in a series of fun activities. For some happy clubs they get the chance to meet Australian tennis players such as Fourlis.

“It’s really a great day,” she said. “The children have had a number of really good questions to ask me, such as how they can improve their performance and tennis skills? They have been really motivated and involved, which is good to see.”

Thinking about her own youth, Fourlis emphasized the importance of holiday programs.

“Every chance to be at the court during school holidays was something that encouraged my parents. My sisters and I loved it,” she said. “Tennis was my passion and always the highlight of my school holidays. I loved going back to school and telling my friends about it.

“Programs like these are a great opportunity to help children build independence, make friends and develop life skills. Tennis is a sport. You can play it at any age and the lessons you learn go much further than the court.”

With a presence throughout Australia during every school holiday period, AO holiday programs presented by Ken Bix ensures that participants remain active, happy and healthy.

“I love Keig-Bix! I usually have two and a half to three with milk, honey, frozen berries and sometimes protein powder for an extra boost,” Fourlis said about her breakfast troutine.

“It is great to see that a brand such as Sanitarium supports healthy habits and helps children to raise a day of tennis.”
