IU football has its highest-ever national ranking after its week seven win at Oregon.
The Hoosiers traveled to Autzen Stadium on Saturday afternoon and silenced the home crowd with a convincing 30-20 win.
The win, which ended the Ducks’ 18-game home winning streak, was enough to lift IU into the top three of both national polls released Sunday afternoon. It was an increase of four spots in both polls for the Hoosiers.
Saturday’s win, IU’s first-ever on the road against an AP top-five opponent, was enough to earn No. 1 votes for the program.
IU received a No. 1 vote in the coaches poll and three No. 1 votes in the AP poll.
Indiana is behind Ohio State, last season’s national champion, and Miami (FL) in both polls.
Before this week, IU football had never been ranked higher than No. 4 in a national poll. The Hoosiers were ranked No. 4 in the AP poll back in 1967.
Indiana started the season ranked No. 19 in the American LBM coaches poll and No. 20 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The Hoosiers moved into the top 10 of both polls after their 20-15 win against Iowa at Kinnick Stadium in week five. IU was inactive in week six, but rose two spots in the coaches poll and one spot in the AP poll as several top-10 teams fell.
The first College Football Playoff rankings for the 2025 season debut Tuesday, November 4 at 8 PM ET on ESPN.
