IU basketball forward was one of 50 players on the preseason watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, which honors the top player in college basketball, the USBWA announced today.

INDIANAPOLIS (USBWA) – Fifty notable returning players have been named to the preseason watch list for the 2025-26 Oscar Robertson Trophy by the US Basketball Writers Association board of directors.
Since the 1958-59 season, the USBWA has named a National Men’s Player of the Year, and since the 1997-98 season, the award has been named after the “Big O,” the legendary Hall of Famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year. It is the oldest award in the country and the only one named after a former player.
“The USBWA is excited to announce its first Watch List for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, which honors the nation’s top basketball player at the end of each season,” said USBWA President 2025-26 Matt Norlander of CBS Sports. “Our roster is full of proven talent and returning All-Americans. Overall, this could be as talented a group of players as we’ve seen in college hoops over the past five years. The voting was done by the USBWA 2025-26 Board of Directors, and our next Watch List will be released in January.”
The list is led by two returning second-team USBWA All-Americans, PJ Haggerty, who transferred from Memphis to Kansas State, and JT Toppin of Texas Tech.
