ITTF Executive Board meeting emphasizes the progress of governance and current initiatives – International Table Tennis Federation

On Monday, August 18, 2025, a meeting of the board of directors was convened with the ITTF president, vice-president, executive vice-presidents, chief executive officer, secretary-general and with the presidents of the continental federations present.

This meeting offered timely opportunity to share essential updates and to re -confirm collective responsibilities. Updates were provided to the entire table tennis family that follows it.

Governance -updates

An important work has been done to tackle matters with regard to the resumption of the annual General Meeting (AGM) of 2025, in consultation with an international law firm in Swiss. During the meeting it was clarified that this responsibility lies with the chairman of the AVA, Graham Symons, who indicated that he is considering an online format for the continuation. He will wait for the decision of the ITTF tribunal before he confirms the date and modality.

In recent weeks, the ITTF Tribunal named a hearing panel. The hearing will take place later this month, with a decision that is expected as soon as the panel is deliberated. The patience and support of member associations during this process are greatly appreciated. A brilliant summer for table tennis

In addition to these governance cases, ITTF has retained business continuity and a strong momentum. In recent months, our assets have demonstrated to deliver:

• An excellent season of table tennis, marked by the inaugural US Smash, Europe Smash and champion Yokohama.
• The calendar of 2026 published in August, earlier than in recent years, responded directly to requests from players and member associations.
• The new ITTF World Para circuit continued to set up new standard for Para -Tafeltennis with various successful events that took place
• Reinforced continental development through our flagship hut program.
• Preparations for the Centenary World Championships in London 2026, in addition to early preparations for the 2027, 2028 and 2029 world championships.
• Current discussions about Olympic qualifying systems, in particular for the newly introduced mixed team event.
• The opening of an ITTF/WTT office in the US to expand our presence and impact in an important market.
• Access to exclusive dialogue with Saudi Arabia with regard to the next ITTF World Esports Championships.
• Launching work on the Centenary Constitutional Reform, as imposed by the AGM.
• Working on projects and concepts to celebrate ITTF’s Centenary SIN 2026.

The ITTF continues to work to achieve the objectives of its strategic plan and at the same time guarantee the smooth delivery of daily activities.
