‘It’s a great feeling’ – Wilson enjoys ‘extra special’ last-minute match winner – Football News

Harry Wilson enjoyed an “amazing feeling” after his injury-time free-kick secured Fulham’s dramatic win over Brighton.

The in-form Wales international was the hero again at Craven Cottage, scoring a stunning free-kick from 25 yards in the 92nd minute as the hosts took all three points at the death.

It was Wilson’s 11th direct goal involvement in the Premier League since early November (seven goals, four assists), with only Erling Haaland (12) registering more in that time.

His goal also boosted Fulham’s European hopes, with Marco Silva’s side rising to seventh in the Premier League.

“Every goal you score is great, but to get all three points from so far is extra special,” said Wilson. “From the end of November until now I have been in very good form and as a striker you are judged on these numbers.

“When you help the team with goals and assists, it’s a great feeling.

“We are all very happy in the dressing room. We were in good form and then were very disappointed with the result and performance in Leeds [1-0 defeat last weekend].

“Last season we broke the club record for points total in the Premier League, which was a testament to ourselves. Before the season started we would have liked to go one step further, so if we get into Europe with that, even better.”

Meanwhile, Brighton’s wait for a first Premier League win at Craven Cottage continues, with the Seagulls now having failed in all six of their attempts.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side led through Yasin Ayari’s stunning first-half strike but could not hold on for what would have been just a second win in ten Premier League games.

“That’s football. Sometimes football is cruel and the better team loses,” Hurzeler said. “We controlled the things we could control. As far as the performance goes, it was one of the best we’ve played.”

“In general we defended very well in the match, we controlled the match, but that’s football, you have to understand it.

“Some people may be worried, but I see the team staying together. Sometimes you need luck in football and we have to get that luck back. You can’t complain, you have to keep working.”
