The American rep. Lori Trahan is located under the loyal market basketers who are expelling the news from Wednesday Arthur T. Demoulas’s on Wednesday.
“For me, the market basket has never just been a supermarket. It is part of my DNA,” the Democrat wrote in one open letter To Market Basket Board -members who voted this week to remove Demoulas from the top of the beloved local chain.
“Growing up in Lowell,” she continued, Market Basket “was not only where we bought groceries – it was where life happened.”
Trahan was poetic about youth trips to the market basket and remembered the nostalgic taste of Chelmsford Ginger Ale and the feeling of community and work ethics that can be seen in the iconic white and salmon cladding of the grocer.
“Artie T., his children and his executive team have always been the stewards of that experience,” she added.
The business commotion of Market Basket followed a long -flocking feud between Demoulas and his sisters, who master a majority stake in the company. Since May, Demoulas has been to take paid leave to allegations that he and his allies organize a work break that are reminiscent of his basic movement of 2014 to get control of the company back.
But a spokesperson for Demoulas claimed on Wednesday that the mood of the board to remove him was “predetermined” and was part of “a Farcical cover -up for a coup.”
Trahan urged the Market Basket Board to “remember what this company means for the people who love it” and to remember the generations of employees and customers who at Arthur T.
“I don’t know what the market basket will look like in the coming years. But I hope it will still be the place where a child can ride the cart while their parents shop, trust that they get the best prices – and the feeling, even at that time, that they are part of something bigger,” Trahan wrote.
“Because the market basket is not just a supermarket chain,” she continued. “It’s a cornerstone of who we are.”
