ITA Community Service Challenge enters final week of competition

TEMPE, Ariz. – The final week of the ITA Community Service Challenge has arrived. Over the past two months, college tennis programs across the country have been engaged in this initiative, which aims to get players back into their local communities through various forms of service.

Nearly 200 activities and hundreds of hours of service were recorded in October and November. The University of Idaho men’s team was the most active of all participating men’s programs, charting 11 separate services ranging from community tennis clinics, after-school programs at a local elementary school, a Halloween game night and more.

The Louisiana Women’s Team in Lafayette has reported a total of 16 community-engaged activities and has led all women’s programs to date, while the Ragin Cajuns have expanded locally through events at food shelters, animal shelters, a nearby children’s hospital and more.

Upon official completion of the challenge, the team finishing with the most points (based on total community service hours and number of student-athletes participating in each activity) will receive $1,500, the distinction of being ITA National Community Service Award winners, and the head coach will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2026 Nitto ATP Finals courtesy of Dunlop.

The second-place program will receive $1,000 and a Dunlop prize package. In addition to these first and second prizes, two random drawings will also be held, where any team that completes at least 50 service hours will be eligible to win (1), and any team that posts its community service projects on social media with the hashtag #CollegeTennisServes (2) will be eligible to win a $500 prize.

As the challenge reaches its final week, teams still have the chance to give back to their communities before the end of the month. If you or someone you know is interested in hosting a community event at a school near you, we strongly encourage you to contact that program to schedule the event.

About the ITA Community Service Challenge
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the return of the ITA Community Service Challenge, a two-month initiative for programs to give back to their communities that builds on the success and foundation of the previously held ITA Community Service Month.

Each ITA member program, which takes place during the months of October and November, is eligible to participate in the ITA Community Service Challenge. With prizes for the top finishers, the programs will compete against each other and earn points based on total hours of community service and the number of student-athletes participating in each activity.
